Ferrari Race Day Silverstone
After an absence of 5 years Silverstone is hosting Ferrari Racing days this September, including a Guinness World Record attempt. The last time there were Ferrari Racing days at Silverstone was 2007, so Ferrari fans will be delighted to learn that Ferrari are back at Silverstone in September for all kinds of Maranello goodness. There’ll be the chance to see a host of on-track stuff including F1 Clienti, FXX, 599XX, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli and the Ferrari Club Challenge – the only place in Europe you’ll be able to see all that in Europe this year.
The 2014 Fiat 500 arrives in the UK
It’s hard to update a car that’s already a pastiche of an original, so Fiat has been very cautious with the updates for the Fiat 500 for 2014, although there are some welcome improvements. One modern change is the arrival of a 7″ TFT digital instrument display – standard on the 500S and 500 CULT and optional on 500 Lounge versions – which does a good job of mimicking the 500′s analogue instruments but with a central section that can be configured to display stuff like trip information and allows for more detailed information on everything from gear shifts to SatNav info (where specced). The biggest mechanical update comes with the arrival of a 104bhp version of the 0.9 litre TwinAir engine promising 0-62mph in 10 seconds (and it’ll feel a lot quicker) and official economy of 67.3mpg (you’ll get a lot less).
The 2015 Lotus Elise
Of all the Lotus reveals today at the Paris Motor Show, the new Lotus Elise is perhaps the one most easily understood. After all, the current Lotus Elise has been with us for a decade and will be a rather long-in-the-tooth model by the time Lotus turns up with this replacement in 2015. Although the new Lotus Elise will be the closest to Colin Chapman’s vision of a real Lotus, it will be a bit on the pricey side, with prices starting at around £40k.
